Men's Open + Men's AA

Divisions

Fifteen teams per division to start. If one division fills and the other has room, we move the extra spots over.

Format

• Open: double elimination with an Olympic crossover. We plan to run full match play. If the day starts running behind, the contenders bracket switches to one game to 28.
• AA: pool play into a seeded bracket, so every team gets plenty of volleyball.

Rules

• All AVP sanctioned rules.
• Player reffed. The decision of the player refs is final, assuming they fully and correctly understand the rule behind the call.
• Conduct is handled with yellow and red cards. Read the full rules.

What the venue is like

If you have not played Waterside before, the sand is deep and a little coarse, close to the opposite of Siesta Key or St. Pete Beach where it is finer and packs down harder. No shells to cut your feet up, and the net systems are good. The courts sit inside the development, so there are restaurants within walking distance and a Publix close by.

Shade is the one thing it does not have much of. A few palm trees and some hammocks, nothing consistent.

Bring with you

• Your own tent setup, if you want consistent shade.
• A cooler full of drinks to stay hydrated through the day. There is a public water fountain, as well as a hose if you need to rinse off.

How to register

• Text 386.530.5002 to register your team.
• Every player signs a liability waiver at check-in.
• Check-in starts at 7:30 AM. Play starts at 8:00 AM sharp.
